Hints and Tips

To apply for the programme you can have studied any discipline. We currently have graduates from disciples that range from Law to Archaeology, Drama studies to Arts on our programme.

While we don’t mind what you have studied you must have a full, clean driving licence, or be in the process of attaining one, to apply for this programme. We hire for 8 main languages: French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese and Japanese.

While it’s preferable to speak an international language, it is by no means a requirement and there are plenty of English-speaking markets, such as the UK, Canada, US and Australia

Written Application tips

When reviewing applications, we start with the written application, so this is your opportunity to give us an insight into your Serious Character and ensure that first impressions count.

  • Read through the written application and start to plan out your answers.
  • Write your answer to each question out in a separate document and save this. If you start writing your answer into the online form straight away you may have spelling or punctuation mistakes. Plus, this means you have a saved copy of all your answers for your own personal records. Handy!
  • If you speak an international language be honest about your proficiency in that language in your application. Honesty is always the best policy!
  • Be as clear and concise as possible

This is your story, tell it your way. Fill in each field of the online written application as honestly and as well as possible. If you have any uncertainties along the way you can contact us through our live chat function or check out our FAQs.

Video Application tips

  • Shoot in landscape (that’s the sideways one).
  • Record in the highest quality possible – don’t worry, our servers can take it.
  • Try to avoid background noise, unless you’re going for a crowd scene…
  • Should you have any questions regarding your upload, you can contact us through our live chat function for help.

Frequently Asked Questions

HOW LONG IS THE JAMESON INTERNATIONAL BRAND AMBASSADOR PROGRAMME?

The Jameson International Brand Ambassador Programme is an initial 13-month offering which typically includes a 3-week induction training programme in August followed by a 12-month market placement. After this initial 12-month market placement you have the opportunity to rotate to a new market for an additional 12-months. This second rotation can be extended up to 24-months. Market rotation is performance dependent.

WHERE WILL I BE BASED?

We currently have 70+ Brand Ambassadors based in over 45 international markets across Europe, Asia, LATAM, North America and Africa. We are always looking to broaden our horizons & break into new markets this is why we look for candidates with an international language and a passion for foreign cultures.

WILL I BE GIVEN RESPONSIBILITY FROM THE START?

This is your opportunity to make your mark, both on your career and as a future leader for the Jameson brand. You will work closely with your foreign based Jameson brand manager and under an Irish Distillers Market Activation Manager who will outline your specific objectives, however you will be encouraged to follow John Jameson’s lead and take the initiative in your work.

IS A DRIVING LICENCE REQUIRED?

Yes, all brand ambassador roles within Irish Distillers require a full, clean driving licence as a company car is one of the many perks in most international markets. The area / region you cover will vary depending on your market. Applicants must have their full clean driving licence at the time of application close at 1pm on 14th February for their application to be considered.

WHAT DOES CAREER PROGRESSION AT IRISH DISTILLERS LOOK LIKE?

This really is up to you. Make an impression in your first year and you can apply to rotate to a new market in your second year. The Jameson International Brand Ambassador Programme has launched many different careers in Irish Distillers in areas such as marketing, brand management, event management and other commercial roles. Indeed over 50% of the International Marketing Team in Irish Distillers launched their careers through the graduate programme. Several programme alumni work in Pernod Ricard affiliates in London, Milan, Paris, NYC, Sydney & Toronto post programme. Your career opportunities are limited only by your own ambitions.

WHAT SORT OF PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SHOULD I EXPECT?

We look for well rounded, confident, charismatic and passionate personalities. We call this ‘Serious Character’. We’ll encourage and develop these attributes and broaden your skills in marketing, presentations, creative thinking, project management and entrepreneurship as part of our development programme ‘Distill Your Own Success’. As the world will be your campus, we will provide you with a strong foundation for an international marketing career.

WILL I GET TO MEET THE OTHER BRAND AMBASSADORS?

We’re a social bunch and we attract like-minded people. All new brand ambassadors will work together in our intensive 3-week induction programme, prior to heading off to market. In bigger markets, we may even have more than one graduate placement e.g., Indonesia, Spain, France. As a recently-hired brand ambassador you will be starting with many like-minded people and lifelong friendships often develop. Thanks to the wonders of the internet, these long-distance connections can provide the basis for an international network of friends and colleagues that we consider our global family.

DO YOU ACCEPT PAPER APPLICATIONS, EMAIL APPLICATIONS OR CVs?

Paper applications may have been the cutting edge in John Jameson’s day, but today we expect graduates to be comfortable with an online digital process. Also, video plays a big part in our application process, so a regular CV or cover letter is not going to cut it as they won’t showcase that ‘Serious Character’ we look for. That’s why we ask you to apply with a 2-minute video application supported by a written application.

DO I NEED A SPECIFIC DEGREE?

We are looking for people with an entrepreneurial spirit who have marketing, brand management, project management or other commercial ambitions. As such, we will look for those with a third level degree in a relevant discipline (such as business, marketing or languages for our International Programme), but we do not rule out any others. Bonus points if you can supplement your academic background with some real-life experience.

CAN I DEFER MY PLACE ON THE INTERNATIONAL BRAND AMBASSADOR PROGRAMME UNTIL THE FOLLOWING YEAR?

Unfortunately, you can’t defer your place. Most candidates jump at this once in a lifetime opportunity; however, we do understand that some people may not be in a position to accept an offer, due to circumstances beyond their control. For these individuals we ask them to stay in touch and re-apply the following year.

HOW MUCH WILL I BE PAID ON THE INTERNATIONAL BRAND AMBASSADOR PROGRAMME?

You’ll get a competitive remuneration package, including a laptop, phone, flights and a company car, if required. But that’s just the superficial stuff, what you ultimately get is the opportunity to kick-start a lifelong career with Irish Distillers and Pernod Ricard.

WILL WE BE GIVEN TRAINING PRIOR TO COMMENCING OUR ROLES?

In Irish Distillers our training and development programme is call ‘Distill Your Own Success’ this kicks off with a 3-week induction programme. This will give you a grounding in the Jameson world and prepare you for the year ahead in your allocated market.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Once we receive all applications and videos a rigorous consideration process begins. We pride ourselves on the quality of our recruits, so bear with us. You’ve put a lot of time into submitting your application, so we like to ensure we put the time into reviewing your application. When we’ve made our decision, successful applicants will be notified and invited to a ROUND 1 Assessment Centre.

ROUND ONE ASSESSMENT CENTRE

The first-round assessment centre for our Brand Ambassador Programme will take place in April 2024. Candidates will be asked to prepare a short presentation and will undergo group competency assessment and language assessment where applicable. This will be with HR and the Jameson International Brand Ambassador Programme Team who will determine your overall suitability for the role.

ROUND TWO ASSESSMENT CENTRE

Round 2 of our assessment centre will take place in May. Selected candidates who make it to ROUND 2 will again be assessed on their presentation skills and competencies and will undergo a series of interviews with the respective Market Activation Managers. This process is to ensure the correct candidate profile is matched to each market. The different markets have specific requirements for their graduates, so we want to make sure the candidate and the role fit.

THAT SOUNDS LIKE A LOT OF EFFORT
