Our training and development programme is a key pillar of our programmes success. Through it we make sure our Brand Ambassadors are as prepared as possible before taking on new roles in one of over 40 markets globally. Our development programme focuses on supporting our graduates to ‘Distill Your Own Success’. To achieve this, we apply a 70/20/10 approach to our development programme.
On the Job Learning
The bulk of learning our graduates receive during the programme is through 'on-the-job' experience.
Our International Brand Ambassadors develop a very strong skill-set through educating consumers, supporting digital marketing strategies, organising events, and working with various teams in their foreign markets.
We want to make sure that our Brand Ambassadors are fully prepared before taking on their new roles and they grow both personally and professionally during their time with us.
From social media gurus and event managers to top-class presenters, our graduates are well prepared to enter permanent positions post-programme, be it with us or otherwise.
Learning through feedback and reflection
Learning through doing plays a huge part in the learning and development of our graduates but we feel that regular feedback with managers, both in your foreign market and with your line manager in Irish Distillers, is essential.
This allows all graduates to learn, up-skill and gain a better perspective on both their strengths and weaknesses as serious characters.
Each Brand Ambassador is given clear performance measures, so they know what success looks like for them and as the eyes and ears of our brand across the globe, Brand Ambassadors report back on a regular basis on what they experience in market. Ambassador insights are invaluable to the brand.
Making sure our graduates are as well-prepared as possible to take on their new roles is crucial.
10% of our training model is what we call 'formal training', showcased through various workshops throughout the year. There are two major formal learning events; the 4-week Induction Training Programme for incoming graduates, which takes place annually from mid-July to mid-August between our Head Office in Dublin and the Irish Whiskey Academy in Cork, and the Global Ambassador Summit, held in early January each year.
Our award-winning 4-week Induction Training Programme prepares our new graduates to execute the Jameson brand strategy in their new market with excellence. Incoming graduates learn about the history, heritage and production process behind our world-renowned Irish whiskey, the marketing strategy behind its recent growth, digital marketing, brand activation and many other areas.
The Global Ambassador Summit (or 'GAS' as it's fondly known) is a three-day learning event whereby the Jameson International Brand Ambassadors from Years 1 to 3 come together to share ideas, give updates on their markets and learn about upcoming strategy for the Jameson whiskey brand globally. For many, some of the best memories of their time on the programme comes from this three-day bonanza.
