Frequently Asked Questions

The Jameson International Graduate Programme is a three year programme. An initial 13 month contract is offered for year one which includes a one month induction training programme in our Head Office Dublin and Distillery in Midleton, Cork followed by a 12-month market placement. For graduates who perform well in their first year, an additional 12 month contract is offered where you will get the opportunity to rotate to a new international market and performance dependent to a third market in the final year of the programme.

For many this is just a first step on a lifelong career with Group Pernod Ricard. Here's the story of Finian's journey on the programme. Finian is now finished his three year journey on the programme and is an Assistant Brand Manager for Jameson with Pernod Ricard China.

We currently have 70 Brand Ambassadors based in 40 international markets across Europe, Asia, America, Middle East and Africa, however we are always looking to broaden our horizons, so keep your passport handy. This is why we look for candidates with a second language and a passion for foreign cultures.

This is your opportunity to make your mark, both on your career and as a future leader for the Jameson brand. You will be assigned a mentor who will be a graduate in their third year of the programme. In addition, you will work closely with your foreign based Jameson brand manager and under an Irish Distillers Market Lead who will outline your specific objectives, however you will be encouraged to follow John Jameson’s lead and take the initiative in your work.

Yes, all graduate roles within Irish Distillers require a full, clean driving licence as a company car is one of the many perks in most international markets. The area that you cover will vary depending on your market. Wherever there are Jameson glasses being clinked, will be your territory. If you don't have a full licence but have applied for your driving test then include this date in your online application.

This really is up to you. Make an impression in your first year and we will offer you a second year placement in another market. The graduate programme has launched many different careers in Irish Distillers in areas such as marketing, brand management, event management and other commercial roles. Indeed over 50% of the international marketing team in Irish Distillers launched their careers through the graduate programme. Your career opportunities are limited only by your own ambitions and dedication.

We look for well rounded, confident, charismatic and passionate personalities. We’ll encourage and develop these attributes and broaden your skills in sales and marketing, presentations, creative thinking, project management and entrepreneurship. As the world will be your campus, we will also provide you with a strong foundation for an international marketing career.

We're a social bunch and we attract like-minded people. All new graduates will work together in our intensive four week induction training programme, prior to heading off to market. In bigger markets, we may even send out more than one graduate (for example we have 10 Brand Ambassadors based across the USA, 4 in Canada, 5 in France, 3 in India, 2 in Germany, 3 in China and 3 based in Japan). As a graduate you will be thrown together with many similar and interesting people and lifelong friendships often develop. Thanks to the wonders of the internet, these long distance connections can provide the basis for an international network of friends and colleagues.

Paper applications may have been the cutting edge in John Jameson’s day, but today we expect graduates to be comfortable with an online digital process. Also, video plays a big part in our application process so a regular CV or cover letter is not going to cut it.

The Jameson International Graduate Programme and the Jameson Graduate Distiller Programme are the only programmes we have. This allows us to focus all our attention on the next generation of Jameson careers.

We are looking for people with an entrepreneurial spirit who have marketing, brand management, project management or other commercial ambitions. As such, we will look for those with a third level degree in a relevant discipline (such as business, marketing or languages for our International Programme) , but we do not rule out any others. For our Graduate Distiller Programme we need our graduates to have more specific backgrounds in Process and Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science or Food Science. Bonus points if you can supplement your academic background with some real life experience.

Unfortunately you can’t defer your place. Most candidates jump at this once in a lifetime opportunity, however we do understand that some people may not be in a position to accept an offer, due to circumstances beyond their control. For these individuals we ask them to stay in touch and re-apply the following year.

The exact figure changes each year depending on the foreign markets we target, but we will be looking for approximately 15 Brand Ambassadors and two Graduate Distillers in 2016.

You'll get a competitive remuneration package, including a laptop, phone, flights and a company car, if required. But that’s just the superficial stuff, what you ultimately get is the opportunity to kick-start a lifelong career with Irish Distillers and Group Pernod Ricard.

We will conduct an intensive four week induction training programme in the Irish Distillers Head Office in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. This will give you a grounding in the Jameson world and prepare you for the year ahead in your allocated market.

Once we receive all applications and videos a rigorous consideration process begins. We pride ourselves on the quality of our recruits, so bear with us. You've put a lot of time into submitting your application so we like to ensure we put the time into reviewing your application. When we’ve made our decision, successful applicants will be notified and invited to a first round assessment.

The first round assessment centre for our International Graduate Programme will take place in February and March 2016. Candidates will be asked to prepare a short presentation and will undergo group competency assessment and language assessment where applicable. This will be with HR and the Jameson Graduate Programme Team who will determine your overall suitability for the Jameson Graduate Programme.

Selected candidates who make it to Round Two will again be assessed on their presentation skills and competencies, and will have to undergo a series of interviews with the respective Market Leads. This process is to ensure that the correct candidate profile is matched to each market. The different markets have specific requirements for their graduates so we want to make sure that the candidate and the role fit.

Getting accepted as a Jameson Graduate is quite the achievement, as we only hire the best candidates. We expect our graduates to work hard, the reward is a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel the world and build an international career.
