When did you decide that you wanted to take part in the Jameson International Brand Ambassador Programme?

I´ve worked with Irish companies and brands since graduating from university in 2020. I´m particularly interested in helping them grow internationally while leveraging my commercial and language skills, so this programme been one I was interested in joining. Friends I already knew who were on the programme, the career success stories of programme alumni, and the opportunity to work internationally with Jameson were all influencing factors in my decision to apply for the programme.

What market were/are you in?

I joined the programme in August 2023 and am based in Seville, Spain. I am part of a team of six Brand Ambassadors based across Spain.

Do you speak an international language & do / did you use this as part of your market placement?

I speak Italian and Spanish. I have lived in both Italy and in Spain. In my current role in Spain, I have the opportunity to speak Spanish every day. Speaking the language of the market you are placed in is important.

What characteristics do you have that help you effectively do your job as Brand Ambassador?

I´m organized, passionate, and outgoing. All traits that I believe Brand Ambassadors need to have to succeed in the role.

What is the most rewarding thing about being part of the Jameson International Brand Ambassador Programme?

Connecting people and communities with the Jameson brand is something I find rewarding about the job. I really enjoy helping to grow the brand in Spain.

What is the most challenging thing about being a Jameson Brand Ambassador?

The role is dynamic. While brand education, distribution, and social media marketing are key pillars of the role, brand activation is where we see the most impact, and it is our responsibility as Brand Ambassadors to drive this. As a result, Brand Ambassadors are often required to work irregular hours, which can be challenging, however, it´s all part of the fun!

How has the programme helped you to develop your own personal brand?

The induction training at the beginning of the programme gave me the tools to distil my own success, and my team in market helped me to implement what I had learnt. The nature of the role is very hands-on and collaborative, which gives you great exposure to the city you are based in, to its people and its culture.

What skills do you feel you have developed through the Jameson International Brand Ambassador Programme?

My project management, language and commercial skills have all developed since joining the programme.

Outside of the day job what do you do for fun?

I love playing sports, travelling, and reading.

What is your favourite memory from your time on the programme so far?

Jameson Connects is our biggest event of the year in Spain, and since I started, we´ve delivered two fantastic, sold-out events in Seville and Malaga. The project management and marketing of these events is something I have found interesting. While the occasion itself is really enjoyable, it is also rewarding to hear feedback from attendees during and after the events regarding their brand experience. Having the opportunity to work in partnership with the other Brand Ambassadors in Spain is great for these events. The other Brand Ambassadors are based in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Malaga, and Granada.

Any tips for anyone applying for the role of Brand Ambassador?

I would encourage anyone interested in applying for the role in utilizing the many resources the programme has made available on the website and social channels, such as Instagram, YouTube, and Spotify.

The Instagram stories and takeovers, and the programme podcast which is on Spotify really give a sense of the day-to-day of the role, while the past successful application videos on YouTube give a sense of the Serious Character we are looking for.

When writing your application or making your 2-minute video application my advice is to be yourself, showcase how your skills and the experience that makes you a suitable candidate for the role.

Each market varies significantly, so I would recommend reaching out to a current Brand Ambassador like myself if you have any questions regarding the role and/or market.
